THE VIRTUS PRO ROSTER HAS INDEED BEEN RELEASED
It’s been roughly 2 years since Virtus Pro fell from grace, quite literally, after placing second at the EPICENTER 2017. Success has definitely been harder to come by since then; thankfully, the organization has decided to make an effective change, overhauling their entire roster by replacing it with that of AVANGAR. This does mean that the former Polish roster now sit on the bench, while the names of AVANGAR relish their new home.
- Michal “MICHU” Muller
- Michal “snatchie” Rudzki
- Janusz “Snax” Pogorzelski (Captain)
- Arkadiusz “Vegi” Nawojski
- Tomasz “phr” Wojcik
- Jakub “kuben” Gurczynski (Coach)
- Timur “buster” Tulepov
- Alexey “qikert” Golubev
- Dzhami “Jame” Ali (Captain)
- Sanjar “SANJI” Kuliev
- Dauren “AdreN” Kystaubayev
- Dastan “dastan” Akbayev (Coach)
I guess we all know what time it is them – it’s Jame time. Present in the competitive CS:GO scene since 2017, 2019 was truly a breakout year for AVANGAR due to their incredible performance at the StarLadder Berlin Major 2019, reaching the grand finals to lose to Astralis despite the encouragement from the community. Apart from $150,000, the roster also won a tonne of effection from the community in chants too. Following the event, the roster went on to win the BLAST Pro Series: Moscow 2019.
On paper, Virtus Pro signing AVANGAR should not alter their performance incredibly, but it does put the boys underneath a larger, more recognizable name. Being active since 2003 competitively, the organization also competed in our very own European Champions Cup qualifier, falling out of the competition during the Last Chance Group Stage, falling to Team Spirit following a forfeit on their part. This roster swap could be what the organization needs to improve and what the players of AVANGAR needed in order to garner more attention – looks like a win-win situation for me, provided that the roster performs. Their nearest opportunity to prove themselves comes in the form of EPICENTER 2019, and I’ll be keeping a watchful eye.
