SOME FANTASTIC MARKETING FROM EPIC GAMES
No, this isn’t an article about how Fortnite just ended with the “The End” event, under the watchful eye of 6 million people or a reaction to it. Epic Games’ tactic here is rather genius though – by temporarily shutting down the game in this fashion and by deleting social media presence such as Tweets is the perfect way to simply absorb the entire gaming community’s attention. As reports and the community sarcastically ask ‘is this the end?’. everyone really knows that it isn’t – it’s only a prelude to the incoming Fortnite Chapter 2; leaks for which have already come through.
All the information comes from the handy work of data miners. The first patch notes for Chapter 2: Season 1 have been uncovered, offering some new details. First off, a completely new map is on the horizon, a Fortnite island never seen before which the community has desperately been asking for. Alongside the new map, a new weapon called the Bandage Bazooka has also been revealed, offering self-explanatory utility. The water should be no barrier now, as boats should be available as new vehicles too. These are trinkets compared to the main gameplay changes.
This includes a new Medal system, to change how levelling up works together with an extended level system beyond the Level 100 cap of before. Other little details may be viewed in the leaked trailer below:
Epic Games employees are quickly advising data miners that striking is likely with these reveals, but that deterrent hasn’t been too successful.
That’s the scoop really; Fortnite’s obviously ‘coming back’ and it’ll do so with a vengeance. The refresh could help the title maintain its incredible popularity.
With a release date yet to be announced, it’s safe to say that it’ll be around soon enough for the community to review it. Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below!
