WILL SONY BE REVEALING THE PS5?
Following E3, all eyes are now fixed on Gamescom 2019 for further reveals in the gaming industry. Taking place from the 20th to the 24th of August, following an opening night where reveals will also take place (19th), the event will either confirm or refuse the speculation heading into the event – for a starter, Sony’s going to be there!
Yes indeed, let’s start with that – after Sony skipped out on E3 this year, most were convinced that the company was saving its exclusives to boost the release of the PS5. Rumoured to be releasing towards the end of this year, it only makes sense that Sony reveals it at Gamescom this year – what else are they going to show? A PS4 exclusive right at the end of its life cycle? I personally think it’s time, so keep your eyes peeled.
Many other developers will also be present at the event, of course, such as Microsoft – so expect a next-gen console battle! The long list includes the likes of Nintendo, SEGA, Activision, CD Projekt, Deep Silver, Epic Games and many others – a full list is available here. What am I excited to see more of?
- Nintendo – The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Sequel
- CD Project Red: Cyberpunk 2077
- Activision: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019
- Bethesda: Doom Eternal
Those are my top titles to look out for – perhaps GTA 6 could be revealed but I’m not too sure. Only if Sony reveals the PS5 will developers start showing off the titles they have prepared for next-gen consoles, which I believe GTA 6 is geared towards. I’m rather excited to see more gameplay for the new Call of Duty which certainly has heads turning and of course, Doom Eternal has me wishing I could speed up the next few months. (Also, Nintendo will probably discuss the Nintendo Switch Mini).
However, this year, Gamescom is more than a gaming expo. This time around, in the German venue, Gamescom is revealing their own esports arena – the Gamescom Event Arena. Across three of the days, the live crowd will be entertained by a League of Legends tournament final – the Summer Cup. To celebrate, seating will be free – getting a seat will be a battle between the early worms.
In all its glory, that’s this year’s Gamescom – the imminent reveal of next-gen consoles and awesome games together with some esports. I’m excited, and I know you all are – let us know what you’re anticipating for the event in the comments section below!
