A HIGH-STAKES EVENT FOR JUST TWO TEAMS

The Overwatch League Playoffs 2019 kicked off on the 5th of September, with the 8 involved teams arguing and quarreling through competition over the $3,500,00 on the line. The post-season event has satisfied the majority of the month with an incredible degree of competition. Six teams have already been eliminated – the remaining two will be going head-to-head live for all to see at the 2019 Overwatch League Grand Finals.

Take a peek at the clip above in order to truly understand what the event is concluding – another season of global competitive Overwatch. The League Grand Finals will be the second championship series of the Overwatch League – concluding the League Playoffs as a match of the titans pitting the Vancouver Titans and San Francisco Shock against one another for a staggering $1.7 million. The two have emerged from either side of the bracket, both in the running to win the entire event following a tough season overall.

However, the Grand Finals will be more than just one match. Blizard has also pushed forward an initiative to feature many artists and DJs to entertain the audience. Names such as Martin Garrix, Matt Ox, PAZ will feature a day prior to the event while Zedd will occupy the time before the match. Besides those names, Questlove will be performing through tournament breaks. Viewers have more than Overwatch to enjoy on Sunday.

Available to stream thanks to live broadcasts for seven regions, this final event will back-up Blizzard’s motive to push franchised competitive Overwatch for a second year despite the doubts for such a format. The esport continues to grow, though with plenty of room of improvement, thanks to the franchising which seems to be playing out well overall.

As I’m no expert with regards to competitive Overwatch, I can’t really offer my opinion as to who stands as the favourite for this final standoff. What is for certain is the fact that the entire show will be quite the spectacle indeed.
