EXCITING CS:GO ACTION IS UNDERWAY
That’s right! Our European, $60,000 online competitive CS:GO event is nearing its end. After commencing on the 16tth of September of this year, the 16 involved teams have been competing viciously in order to claim victory on the 23rd of November, which lies only a few days away. Below is a quick peek at the state of the competition as it stands, and our thoughts for its potential end.
Let’s rewind to the Group Stage which concluded in September – four groups of four teams each. The names of BIG, Gambit Youngsters, DreamEaters, OpTic Gaming, Heroic, Team GamerLegion, Windigo Gaming and SMASH Esports were the 8 teams that came on top of their groups. The four which proceeded to the Playoffs, thanks to the qualification games between themselves, were BIG, DreamEaters, Heroic and Windigo Gaming. while the others were thrown back into the mix through the Consolation Playoffs.
Following the Groups, the newly formed format was put to full force – as the concept of Consolation Playoffs and a Last Chance Stage allowed for a new viewing experience. For example, a team such as Sprout which finished 0-5 in their initial Group, managed to claim a Last Chance Group against 3 other teams. From this point onwards, they took down Illuminar Gaming in the Playoffs to reach the Round of 8 Playoffs. This is exactly the type of gameplay we were hoping for – a team using a second chance to bounce back in an incredible fashion.
One thing to note, is that the organization of SMASH esports did in fact part ways with their CS:GO roster during the event, to be signed by GODSENT – hence the name change on any event pages. Also note that Windigo Gaming as an esports organization ceased operation as of Novermber 1st – hence the prefix of ‘ex’.
Beyond all of these details – only 8 teams remain in the competition. Namely, BIG, ex-Windigo Gaming, Hard Legion Esports, GamerLegion, GODSENT, Movistar Riders, Sprout and Team Spirit. Remember, although the cash prize might seem sweet, the real prize is qualifying for the Champions Cup later on this year by finishing within the top 4.
