OVER $5 MILLION OF PRIZE POOL CONFIRMED
With the conclusion of the ongoing PMCO 2019 Fall Split Global Finals, it seemed to be the perfect opportunity to reveal future plans, while everyone was watching. Tencent has proudly announced the new season of competitive PUBG Mobile for 2020, continuously trying to expand the scale of the mobile esport to be a leading contender in the industry – a total of $5 million in prize pool have officially been confirmed too! Read on to discover further details.
The theme of 2020 for the competitive scene in question seems to be inclusivity, as two seasonal competitions will be taking place simultaneously – both the PUBG Mobile Club Open and the PUBG Mobile World League will be running together. Tencent seems to be focused on providing opportunities to professionals, semi-professionals and also casuals all at one go. This is all placed into one grand pyramid structure, which raises the stakes towards the tip.
Hence, at the bottom, we find the Campus Championship for casuals or amateur players on a national level. Each country will also have its own Mobile Club Open and Pro League. Beyond this however, lies the Regional Pro League – succeeded by the World League. The cusp of the pyramid is the climax of the entire season: the PUBG Mobile World Championship 2019. I know – it sounds pretty damn epic!
For all these leagues, events will act as checkpoints to further reduce the number of competitors. Regional Pro Leagues have also been confirmed for the areas of Southeast Asia, Americas, South Asia and others which remain to be confirmed. The World League looks to be cut in two also.
$5,000,000 will be driving all of these leagues and events, as Tencent are determined to establish the mobile esport. The past year has been great for PUBG Mobile, having a very successful launch and now, moving on to massive plans!
